Storia

In questa località furono combattute almeno due importanti battaglie: la prima mwiafu combattuta nel mwiq67 a.C. durante la mwigterza guerra mitridatica, tra un mwiwmwjalegatus di mwjqLucio Licinio Lucullo e l'esercito di mwjgMitridate VI del mwjwPonto; la mwkaseconda e più famosa fu quella che vide mwkqGaio Giulio Cesare sconfiggere mwkgFarnace II del Ponto nel mwkw47 a.C., e pronunciare la famosa frase mwlamwlqVeni, vidi, vici, per la rapidità con cui ottenne la vittoria.
